Agartala-Assam railway line destroyed by landslide, several trains cancelled

Landslide on Lamding-Badarpur Pahar line has completely stopped train movement since yesterday. This has affected the state train services badly.

According to the sources of railway station in Agartala, due to incessant rains in Dima Hasao district for the past few days, several railway services has been suspended indefinitely in the hill line. Common people and businessmen have faced great problems due to the suspension of rail and road communication in the hilly areas of Tripura and Assam in North Eastern region. Petrol and Diesel saving has started in Tripura as a government order. In this, the black market traders have started trying to create a crisis of daily goods due to the suspension of train services on several routes including Tripura since May 2.

And realizing the opportunity, the airline companies have increased the price of air tickets on the route from Agartala to Kolkata and Guwahati. Many candidates from Tripura could not go to Assam to take part the recruitment exam of Cooperative Bank due to the disruption of rail and road connectivity as well as the abnormal increase in air ticket prices.
