After 52 years of political relations with Tripura, Gora Chakraborty returned to his home in Kolkata

Shri Gora Chakraborty returned to his home state West Bengal due to family responsibilities. In 1972, due to the special political situation in West Bengal, he was forced to move to Tripura on the advice of Pramod Dasgupta and Jyoti Basu.

Student leader Gora Chakraborty has since been associated with Leftist politics in Tripura for a long 52 years. He studied in MBB College. He also became the joint secretary of MBB College Student Council. In short, Gora Chakraborty was the popular leader of the democratic movement from the Left-Student and Youth Movement in Tripura for 52 years from 1972 to 3 May 2024. He returned to Kolkata by Friday night train.

According to the CPIM State office sources, Gora Chakraborty was member of CPI(M) Tripura State Committee for over 25 years. He served as the party's Bishalgarh division and Seapahijala district committee for a long time and was the secretary of DYFI's Tripura state committee. He was also a member of the State Secretariat of CITU.

Yesterday, the leadership of the CPIM gave him a farewell reception at Dasaratha Dev Bhavan in the capital. CPI (M) State Secretariat Members Manik Dey, Narayan Kar, Pabitra Kar, Haripad Das, Party West District Committee Secretary Ratan Das, Seapahijala District Committee Secretary Bhanulal Saha, Sadar Divisional Committee Secretary Subhashis Ganguly, Bishalgarh Divisional Committee Secretary Partha Pratim Majumdar, CITU State Committee General Secretary Shankar Prasad Dutta, DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb, SFI State Secretary Sandeepan Chakraborty, State Secretariat Member Ratan Bhowmik along with State Committee Members Krishna Rakshit, Jharna Das Vaidya, Samar Chakraborty, Siddiqur Rahman, Samar Aadhya like top leaders attended his farewell function and discussed various aspects of his long political career. All in one word acknowledged and remembered his contribution in the rise of Communist Party of Tripura during difficult times.
