Sports and Youth Affairs: Physical Education

Physical Education is an integral part of the education. The motto of physical education is to build a complete man through the teaching of character building, discipline, Patriotism, integrity and brotherhood. For achieving the goal, 956 physical teachers/coaches are working in different Schools of the state.

Training

Regional College of Physical Education has been set up at Panisagar, North Tripura to train the physical teachers in different games. One year D.P.Ed Course conducted for graduate teachers and 6 (six) months C.P.Ed Course for under graduate teachers.

Prize Money Games

Prize money games are the regular curriculum of Shool level programme with the central assistance. Competitions in 5 nos. games are being organized by School Sports Board in Block, District and at State level. The competition team of Block level gets the prize money.

Coaching

To develop the standard residential coaching camps prior to participation of National Competition are being organized Special Coaching Camps are also organized in with the goal.

Border Area Games

To develop the standard of tribal students living in border areas Rs.9.49 Lakhs has been allotted during 2003-04 for the following constructional work. The work is in progress.

1.Balance of Bimal Sinha Swimming Pool, Udaipur.

2. Sports Hall at Sonamura.In 2004-05, an amount of Rs. 4.51 Lakhs has been released for the construction of Sports Hall at Sonamura. The work is in progress. Moreover, Rs.4.10 Lakhs has been released in 2005-06 for the said construction.

Inter Coaching Centre Sports

At present 30 coaching centres are functioning in the state. To build up competitive mind and to evaluate inter-coaching center sports are organized. In last few years, football, athletics, judo and kabaddi competitions have been organized in these coaching centres.

Tripura Sports School

To produce National and International level sportsman, Tripura Sports School was established in the year 2000. At present 59 nos. of students is getting training under the experienced coaches. Their performance in state level school games is remarkable.

North East Tribal Youth Festival

This Festival is taking a key role in the development of tribal folk culture of the North East. Different tribal groups of the state and the North East perform their folk culture in the festival for creating a beautiful melody and harmony of this region.
