Modernization of police force

Karnataka is one of the few states that have modernized its police force and also kept pace with the changes in information technology. This is the first state to provide computers to all its 810 police stations The state govt now have decided to introduce video conference facility to all its lower police functionary by setting up a comprehensive videoconference facility. This will ensure faster exchange of views to know immediately the progress of a case and hold review meetings; this will not only save money but also help close monitoring in addition to reduction of the need for the officers to come to HQ often.

This is more relevant in the case extremist prone Tripura. The state police force needs to be modernized in information technology and to take the advantage of emailing. In lieu of wireless messages or telephone or telex, the emailing is personified and secret and has a paper proof.  

It has been felt to amend the Fire services Act 1964 to give it more relevancy and effectiveness, a decision taken by Karnataka Govt Some steps have already been taken by the govt, which are

1. Agni Sanchike--a weekly serial has been produced by the fire service dep’t to broadcast by DD

2. A website has been launched namely www.karnatakafireservices.gov.in

3 List of all fire service stations with their telephone no are available in the site

4 Steps to prevent fire accident or incident are elaborated

  1. Online registration facility for obtaining no objection certificate

  2. A kid zone for children’s’ knowledge in case of fire

  3. Fire wardens organization set up which will provide information on fire safety measures

  4. The org will assist fire forces in time of necessity

  5. Don’ts and do’s etc

  State Govt in Andhra.Pradesh has decided to frame three laws on fighting corruption in offices

  1. Performance accountability bill

  2. Corrupt public servants forfeiture of properties bill

  3. . Transparency in public procurement bill

These laws are intended for fixing officials for lapses by means of accountability, forfeiture of personal properties/assets of the officials found guilty and a very transparent and crystal clear step and procedures for purchase of materials through quotations and tenders there will be sufficient protection for the honest, innocent and efficient official

     4. On its statehood day November 1, 2003 Karnataka Govt is honoring 56 eminent persons by awarding Rajyostava award, as recognition to their great services in different fields of expertise. The prestigious award will carry a gold medal of 20 grams, a plaque, a shawl and a citation

The fields from which the persons are selected for the prestigious award are

  20. Besides NGO, and institutions like young men’s Christian association, iskon, bharat cancer institute etc

It is highly an inspiring exemplary area, which Tripura govt may like to consider in order bestowing honour and recognition to the deserving people of the state on its state attainment day on 21 January. Of course the statehood day of Karnataka is an important day for Govt which gives due weight to the day. In Tripura it is not known when the day was observed befittingly. There are many renowned persons in Tripura state who can be honored. On such a great day or any other day like Territorial council day or Accession to Union of India or Merger day Only few teachers on 5th September and a few story or poetry writer are honored every year by the education or ICAT dept for the last few years by the name of SDBurman smriti puraskar and Rabindra puraskar etc. The fields that can be included besides what have been mentioned above are tribal dance, kokborak literature, indigenous peoples’ music, successful farmer, and environmentalist, Apart from this some institutions like NGOs, banks, and coop society. Best businessman, best animal lover etc of the year,
