Micro- Enterprise Development is definite way to socio-economic Development. Micro enterprise Development is a job, which requires special skill management experience and challenge accepting attitude. It is in this context the Institute has launched this particular Programme with financial assistance from Science & Technology Department, Government of India. Under this Programme the Institute has setup an Entrepreneurship Development Cell at Arkaneer where a large number of prospective entrepreneurs were trained in respect of setting up of small manufacturing units and service units. The NSTEDB division of Science & Technology, Govt. of India funded the project. The prospective entrepreneurs are not only trained in the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, they are also assisted by the Institute in respect of formulation of the project proposal, setting up of the units, arrangement of fund from Govt. agencies and Banks. The Institute has also launched one innovative scheme on micro credit for the young entrepreneurs who gets small interest free loans from the Institute. Under the STED Programme the Institute has established more than 275 units in the different places of Tripura. Successful Entrepreneurs who have taken micro credit from the Institute are regularly repaying their loan amount, which was given to them with out any interest. In the area of Information Technology also some successful entrepreneurs have setup their unit with assistance of STED, West Tripura.
The Institute has set up a Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Cell at Bagma, R.K.Pur, South Tripura from the year 2002 which is functioning on full swing. The Institute has so far helped in setting up more than 200 units at South Tripura. The Entrepreneurs are being helped by the Institute in respect of technical assistance like procurement of plants and machinaries, advance training at Kolkata, Assam etc. Recently the Institute has launched a new Programme on production of footwear items by the local cobblers. Under this Programme the Leather Technology experts from Kolkata trained about 25 local cobblers. So far under this Programme about 6 units in the footwear area have been setup, which includes production & sales. Some of the other areas where the Institute has been able to set up unit are:

Electrical gadgets sales & repairing 9. Computer Institute 10. Fax & Xerox repairing Centre 11. Radio and TV sales and servicing shop 12. Two & Three Wheeler repairing shop. 13. Dress designing & tailoring Units 14. Candle Making Units 15. Soft Toys Making Units
STED Outlet:
NBIRT has trained a large number of artisans and farmers as well as few Self Help Groups on various areas of Science and Technology. They are now producing quality products. Many of the artisans and farmers requested NBIRT to create an outlet for selling of their products. This is in view of the fact that the small Entrepreneurs do not have enough money to create their own infrastructure for selling out their products. It is in this context NBIRT has setup a Modern A.C Marketing Outlet at Arkaneer, Sekerkote. The shopping complex have following selling compartments. Ø Fresh garden Vegetables. Ø Processed Food and milk products. Ø Gift items. Ø Garments Ø Leather products.
So far there has been a business of Rs. 10.0 lacs in the STED Outlet since its Inauguration by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura in the year 2004. |
