Vocational training programme for the tribal youths


                

This is a joint programme of the NB Institute for Rural Technology and Tribal Welfare Department, Govt. of Tripura. It is a challenging but interesting programme of the Institute. Surrendered militants of Tripura are to be rehabilitated. In this context, Govt. of Tripura has set up a.rehabilitation cum vocational training centre at Lachi, Belonia, South Tripura. 

NB Institute for Rural Technology in association with Tribal Welfare Deptt. Govt. of Tripura has designed a full-fledged 18 months duration vocational training schedule for surrendered militants of Tripura for the year 2006 in different areas like-

a)      Electrical and Electronics.

b)      Computer

c)      Tailoring

d)      Welding

e)      Automobile Engineering

f)        Grocery, Candle and Agarbati Making, Food Processing, Milk and allied products.

 

The surrendered militants also undergo the following common activities.

¨      Basic Education.

¨      Driving

¨      Yoga

¨      Cultural Programs

¨      Tripura Darshan

 

So far, NBIRT trained about two hundred and one numbers unemployed youths specially surrendered militants in different vocational training centres of Tripura from the year 2004 to 2006.

This is a residential course and the Institute deputed a full set of faculty members in the training centre. After the completion of the training Programme many of the surrendered militants have got job in Government sector or in private sectors. Many of them are now self- employed also.
