Tripura is one of the states in the North-East region that holds immense tourism potential. Old palaces, temples and archaeological sites - all are great attractions for the tourists. Like other countries, now tourism is a flourishing industry in our country too. Awarding the status of industry to tourism extensive efforts are on to develop the tourism related infrastructure in many states. Tripura is not an exception. But how far Tripura has been covered by tourism literature available in Bengali? Tourism in Tripura has caught the fancy of the writers but that was more in a sporadic manner. Perhaps, there is no complete and comprehensive written material available on overall picture of Tripura tourism. Keeping thin in mind, this book has been written, Mesmerizing greeneries, palaces and relics, temples and archaeological treasures and great heritage have been described in the book, as though a socio-economic scenario is also peeping out from this. Reading through the pages will make you feel roaming around the state from north to south.

Newspaper Reports

Dainik Sambad, August 20, 2006, Agartala: ".....Perhaps this is the first travelogue based on the tourism resources of Tripura.....The book contains - various queries that made Debyendu and Chaitali curious during their journey through the hills and villages of Tripura. They get their answers from Ratnadi. Their conversation reflects the socio-economic picture of the state also. Some important current affairs have also been included in the book. Historical places and archaeological resources have always attracted the tourists and Tripura has no dearth of these things. The author has presented every tourist spot in the state in a beautiful manner supported by historical background. Sometimes, he has amalgamated history with hearsay adding to its attraction. For example, the tragic love story of the sculptor of Pilak and the princess and the unfinished work of Kalu Kamar at Unakoti take us to an unknown past....There is no doubt that the readers of Tripura and outside the state will find this book interesting to read..."

Dainik Statesman, September 17,2006,Kolkata: "Given a chance the travel-thirsty Bengalees rush to Kullu-Manali, Kashmir, Rajasthan,Goa or South India; nowadays to Singapore & Malaysia also. But do they come to Tripura with that enthusiasm and in such numbers? In Tripura you can find history, archaeological resources, tantalizing natural beauty and what not. Targeting all these resources the author has developed his book 'Tripura in Tourism'. All these have inspired the author to write the book in the form of a travel literature. May this Puja or winter bring hordes of Bengali travelers to Tripura! This book is, no doubt, an addition to the travel literature in Bengali."
