Hot on the heels of Saraswati Saha, one more Tripura lass blazed the
international arena lifting two silvers in Yogasan competition in
Argentina.
Purnajita Sen of Agartala as a member of 21 member Indian team took
part in the Intercontinental/ International Yoga Cup held at Buenos
Aires on October 5 and 6 and clinched second positions in both
Junior World Cup Artistic Yoga and Junior World Cup Olympic Yoga.
Altogether five countries- Argentina, Uruguay, Greece, Italy and
India participated in the competition. In the second event another
Indian girl Pracheta Bhuva who lifted bronze, followed the student
of Class IX of a city school, Maharani Tulshibati Balika Vidyalaya.
Earlier, in the national yoga meet held at Bangalore on August 29
and 30 , she had stood first and got selected for the Argentina
competition.
" It was for financial help from some private and public sector
organizations that Purnajita could attend the international meet
held in a foreign country", said her father Jyotiswar Sen, a former
body builder and homeopath doctor.
The Indian team was also supposed to participate in the World Yoga
Cup held on September 29 and 30 but due to late arrival of some
participants, officials and also for late receipt of passports, they
missed the meet, said general secretary of Yoga Confederation of
India, Gopal Ji in a statement.
An official here informed that the state government would felicitate
Purnajita for her performance in the international competition.
Already the government has announced financial assistance for the
sportspersons of the state making mark in the national and
international meets.
