DEBNATH
First Arjuna
award recipient from Tripura. He bagged GOLD medal in the
International Tournament first in 1969 at Almata in the former
Soviet Union. He represented the Indian Gymnastics Team several
times since 1969. He led the Indian Gymnastics Team in the Asian
Games, 1994 held in Hiroshima of Japan as coach. He was the first
National Champion (All round Best Men Gymnast) in the year 1974-75.
Mr. Debnath is presently the Gymnastics coach of Sports Authority of
India.
BISWESHAR
NANDI
Bisweshar
Nandi has been the Captain of the Indian Gymnastics Team for six
times taking part in Six International Tournaments. His outstanding
contribution to the Indian Gymnastics was reflected in superb tune
from 1978 to 1986. Besides he became the National Champion (All
round Best Men Gymnast) in the year 1978-79,1979-80 &1983-84.
Mr. Nandi at present is the Gymnastics Coach in Netaji Subhas
Regional Coaching Centre, a State Government run Coaching Centre.

KALPANA DEBNATH
First
women Arjuna award recipient from Tripura for the outstanding
contribution of Gymnastics. Apart from a bunch of qualifications
like Master of sports (NSNIS, 1981-83) or Doctor of Philosophy (Jiwaji
University, 1990) she has represented the country several times in
events of international repute. She became the National Champion
(All round Best Women Gymnast) in the year 1976-77 to 1979-80 in
succession for four years, which is an unbroken record till today,
in the history of Indian Women Gymnastics. Her career graph has been
a very bright one with the title of "All Round Best Women
Gymnast of India" for nine consecutive terms, a record of all
gold medals in national championship held at Surat in 1978. All
throughout her career she has earned more then 28 Gold medals to her
credit. At present Dr. Debnath working as a gymnastics coach of SAI,
NSNIS Patiala.
BALARAM SHIL
Balaram
Shil represented seven times in the International arena in
Gymnastics. He became the National Champion (All round Best Men
Gymnast) in the year 1986-87. He represented 1982 Asian Games &
1986 Asian Games as an Indian gymnast. At present Mr. Shil is
working as a Deputy Commandant of CRPF.
DEBASISH
DAM CHOWDHURY
Debasish
Dam Chowdhury represented seven times in the International arena in
Gymnastics. He became the National Champion (All round Best Men
Gymnast) in the year 1984-85. He represented 1982 Asian Games &
1986 Asian Games as an Indian gymnast. At present Mr. Dam Chowdhury
working in Indian Railway.

Tapas
Deb represented five times in the International arena in Gymnastics
as a player and coach. He represented 1986 Asian Games as an Indian
gymnast. In the year 2000 he also represented as a coach of Indian
team in the second school children of International Gymnastics in
Russia. At present, Mr.Deb is working as a coach of SAI.
BIJAN SAHA
Bijan
Saha represented three times in the International arena in
Gymnastics as a player. He represented 1982 Asian Games as an Indian
gymnast. At present,
Mr.Saha is working as a coach of SAI.
RATAN DEBNATH
Ratan
Debnath represented two times in the International arena in
Gymnastics. He became the National Champion (All round Best Men
Gymnast) in the year 1988-89 and 1989-90. He represented in the 1986
Asian Games and 1993 World Championship in England as an Indian
gymnast. At present, Mr. Debnath is working as a sports officer in
Indian Railways.
MADHUSUDAN SAHA

Saha represented in the International arena in Gymnastics as a
player in the year 1970, the first Asian Youth Championship held at
Japan. At present, Mr.Saha is working as a coach of BSF.
LOPAMUDRA GHOSH

Ghosh represented in the International arena in Gymnastics as an
only women player in the year 1970, the first Asian Youth
Championship held at Japan. She is the only women International
gymnast of Tripura also.
RATHINDRA ROY
Rathindra
Roy represented in the International arena in Gymnastics as a player
in the year 1981. At present, Mr.Roy is working as a coach of SAI.
DIPTANU
BANIK
Diptanu
Banik bagged a gold medal and two bronze medals from the Tulit Petre
Memorial International Gymnastics competitions held in Hungary in
2001. In the previous year too, he ranked third position in all
round at the same competition. A boy of standard VII is the new star
of Tripura.
RATI RANJAN DHAR
Rati
Ranjan Dhar is the first man from Tripura who took part in
International Tournament in swimming. He begged the second position
clocking 17.58 hours in the Indo-Srilanka Palk swimming Tournament
in 1969.
GANESH NAHA
In
expedition swimming, Ganesh Naha successfully crossed 36 Km distance
of the ENGLISH CHANNEL in 1998 and 26 Km distance of Gulf of
Torroneous in 1999. He is the first to cross the ENGLISH CHANNEL
from Tripura as well as North East also.
CHAITI DEBBARMA

Debbarma is regarded as the first tribal girl in India who has swam
in the sea. In the year 2000, she has successfully crossed 26 Km
distance of Gulf of Torroneous of Greece clocking 8.25 hours along
with 150 participants from various countries.
AKKIL

Akkil
Hossain is the first swimmer of Tripura who bagged medal in the
International Tournament in swimming. In the year 1985, Akkil won
the Bronze medal for 100 metre Back Stroke in the Asian age group
swimming tournament held in MUMBAI.
ARJAN

Arjan
Ali has been a promising footballer since his early boyhood and
proved his talent these days also. Now he has been playing football
for different clubs in Kolkata, the city of football in India. Last
year, he has been a regular player of Mohun Bagan club, one of three
major football club in India. Arjan represented Indian football team
in Asian School football in 1994.
TUSHAR
SAHA
Left
hand spinner is a promising boy. In the year 2000 his contribution
to the National Junior Cricket was excellent which even reflected in
first Asian Cup Cricket and the Junior World Cup Cricket.
RAJESH
BANIK
Rajesh
is graded as an all rounder cricketer with a credit of taking part
in two international tournaments in a year. In the year 2000, he
represented the country in the first Junior Asia Cup Cricket held in
Malaysia and the Junior World Cup Cricket in England.
