Agartala, Apr 21, 2017 : With the assembly polls drawing near by day Tripura’s turbulent tribal politics continues to be in a state of flux . Because of inner bickering the IPFT which successfully enlisted support of a sizable section of tribals on the separate ‘Twipraland state’ issue has split and now a round expulsion and counter expulsion is continuing. The president of undivided IPFT , veteran Narendra Debbarma yesterday expelled from the party Rana Kishore Debbarma, president of the party’s breakaway faction . ‘IPFT is still one and undivided but a section of disgruntled leaders have started indulging in factionalism ; IPFT shall remain active in state politics and fight the polls on the issue of separate ‘Twipraland’ for tribals’, said Narendra.
The differences within IPFT had come to the fore over the issue of financial relationship with the BJP with the a faction led by former MLA Rajeshwar Debbarma expelling Narendra Debbarma and Mebar Kumar Jamatya from the party. Reacting to the charges brought against him , N.C.Debbarma said yesterday that he would move court against those who brought ‘false and fake’ charges against him. He asserted that out of 29 divisional committees of IPFT 27 were still with the original party and loyal to him and the party leadership. Narendra also announced IPFT’s dissociation with the Forum constituted in January this year for joint struggle. But sources within the party said that the bickering within IPFT would continue for some time.
