How
information is to be sought A
person who wants to obtain information from any Public Authority has to
seek information in the following manner:- (i)
He must make a request in writing (submit an application) to the
Public Information Officer or the Assistant Public Information Officer of
the Public Authority concerned. [Sec-6(1)] (ii)
The application may be made in English, (Hindi) or in the official
language of the area where the application is submitted. The
application may also be made
through electronic means if such
means is available. There is no
specific application form. The application may be in plain paper.
[Sec-6(1)] (iii)
The application must contain full contact address of the applicant
and the particulars of the information sought. [Sec-6(1)]. (iv)
If an applicant makes an oral request seeking any information and
the applicant himself is unable to write any application, the PIO or the
APIO to whom the applicant approaches for information shall render
necessary assistance to the applicant and reduce the request in writing.
(v)
Along with the application the applicant has to pay in cash an
application fee of Rs.10/- (rupees ten) which is non-refundable. Further
amount of fee for obtaining the information has to be paid by the
applicant as and when the amount of further
fee is intimated to the applicant by the PIO. [Rule-3] (vi)
The APIO shall grant to the applicant a money receipt in form No.1
appended to the Rules. [Rule-4] (vii)
The date issue of the money receipt shall be deemed to be the date
of receipt of the application seeking application and the money receipt
shall be a proof of receipt of the application for obtaining information.
